    Event Review

    Event Review: The Future of Green Building

    On Thursday, April 3, 2025, USGBC Michigan and CSI Metro Detroit co-hosted a panel discussion titled The Future of Green Building at the VistaTech Center in Livonia, MI. The event, held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., focused on the latest developments in sustainable design, with a deep dive into the forthcoming LEED v5 certification system.

    The evening began with registration at 4:30 p.m., followed by a 75-minute panel discussion moderated by Buthayna Taha (Associate AIA, AHC, CSI)  featuring industry leaders: Lana Crouse (USGBC), Cheryl Beuning (Fluor Corporation), and Monika Budniak-Wischman (Assoc. AIA). Topics included updates to LEED v5, the critical role of product specifications, real-world project case studies, and tools such as EPDs and HPDs used to drive healthier built environments.

    Attendees earned 1.25 AIA Learning Units and 1 LEED-specific BD+C Continuing Education credit. The night concluded with a networking dinner, giving professionals the opportunity to connect and exchange ideas on the future of sustainable construction.

    CSI Detroit Member Spotlight: Lindsay Woods

    Lindsay Woods AIA, NCARB, LEED Green Associate
    Project Manager

    Lindsay is a Registered Architect with over ten years of experience in the architectural building industry. Early on, she demonstrated success in design and technical documentation and construction administration services in various markets, including higher education, religious, office, and community projects. Her knowledge of the built environment has been a conduit for her role as Senior Project Manager, where her ability to understand the execution and form of buildings translates into ease of communication with team members and clients.

    Her responsibilities as Senior Project Manager include project planning, scheduling, scope definition, contract execution, additional service agreements, and communication at all levels. Her project management experience is in K-12, higher education, gaming, retail, and office sectors.
