Record-Breaking Scholarship Golf Outing Draws 103 Golfers at The Fountains in Clarkston
Clarkston, Mich. — August 20 — The Metro Detroit Chapter hosted a record-breaking Scholarship Golf Outing on August 20 at The Fountains in Clarkston, Michigan, bringing together 103 golfers for a day dedicated to supporting student scholarships and strengthening the future construction workforce.
The annual outing combined industry networking with on-course competition, while reinforcing the chapter’s commitment to education, opportunity, and workforce development. Participation reached a new high this year, reflecting growing support from members, sponsors, and partners across the region.
Proceeds from the outing will support a scholarship for an architecture student at Lawrence Tech University.
Our chapters extend sincere thanks to the event’s sponsors, donors, volunteers, and participants whose contributions made this year’s record-breaking turnout possible. Their support helps expand scholarship access and build a stronger pipeline of future professionals in southeast Michigan.

President's Report
August Board Meeting
The board meeting was called to order at 9:02 AM by President Cynthia Harman Jones and adjourned at 9:42 AM. The board reviewed the minutes of the prior month and received committee updates.
· Education: Julie is working on scheduling a virtual Gold Sponsor Lunch & Learn
· Membership: Current membership is 133.
· Media: Photos from the golf outing are being collected for social media, and newsletter article in progress.
· Student Engagement: Jeff is awaiting a response from the new scholarship contact at LTU.
· Awards: Metropolitan Detroit CSI Chapter received an Outstanding Chapter Award, and Cynthia and Russ will accept the award at the National meeting.
· Bylaws: A volunteer is needed to fill Ric’s vacant committee seat

Next Board Meetings: Meetings are scheduled monthly from October through August, alternating between virtual morning meetings and in-person afternoon meetings. If interested in attending one of the board meetings, please reach out to a board member.
Overall: The board is focused on membership growth, upcoming educational and social programming, scholarship efforts, event planning and strengthening member communications.
