PRESIDENTIAL LETTER
On Tuesday, June 9th marked our chapter's President Dinner where we looked back upon the past year and what we learned and the fun we had; and look forward to the future of all the possibilities our chapter anticipates. I’m grateful to celebrate a year defined by engagement, education, and strong professional collaboration.
CSI exists for a clear purpose: to improve the quality of construction specifications and project delivery by bringing together owners, architects, engineers, specifiers, product representatives, contractors, and educators. When we do that well, we reduce risk, strengthen coordination, and elevate the standard of the built environment.
This year, we continued building momentum through events that connected learning with real-world practice—including our joint meeting with BEC on new energy code impacts on enclosures, tours and site visits such as the psychiatric hospital, Hudson’s jobsite, and Interior Environments, and hands-on experiences like the Airtech Doors factory tour and our visit to Dura-Crete.
I would like to thank Ric Aranguren and Bill Jensen for their service to the Board of Directors, thank you! I would like to congratulate Dian Selleck-Wilson on her re-election to the Board of Directors, I appreciate the opportunity to work with you again. Next, a warm welcome to John Howarth and Russ Hinkle, our newest board members, I am delighted about our future collaboration.
We recognize the people and partners who helped make our programming meaningful and our chapter impact real.
A sincere thank you to our chapter sponsors. Your financial support enables us to deliver high-quality education and networking opportunities for our members and the broader construction community.
Most importantly, thank you to every member who showed up, volunteered, sponsored, taught, mentored, or stayed engaged. Our chapter works because you contribute—and your commitment is what keeps Detroit Metro CSI strong.
As I am near the midpoint of my presidentship, I am honored to serve this chapter and proud of how we have come together to promote the betterment of the construction specification community.
I wish everyone a happy and safe summer.
Cynthia Harman-Jones, CSI, CDT, CCS, CCCA, RA, NCARB
